Visit Myrtle Beach Tourism Ad. Proud of this one. I made it a goal this year to develop my voice as a writer/ director. While that is a never ending process, it’s fun seeing some common themes emerging. Between this one and Remember How to Play (the spec ad I did earlier this year), I’m gravitating toward emotional storytelling, human connection and my favorite ingredient, nostalgia. For this ad specifically, I wanted to get past all the layers of a ~cool vacation~ to the core of what actually makes a family vacation special.

High chance you’ll get into a body of water and multiple forms of moving vehicles. But at least I’ll be right there with you, in my green hat.

I initially envisioned this as a spec ad. My bigge $I initially envisioned this as a spec ad. My biggest beef with conventional outdoor industry advertising is its focus on extreme athletes doing, for lack of a better term, crazy shit. While I admire watching a top-tier athlete absolutely shred as much as the next person, it only represents a fraction of the broader experience. As a biiiiig mountain biker myself who’s always trying to convince my friends to get into the sport, its wild to me how many people view it as overly intimidating. Scary. Too intense. I wanted to capture this more joyful, carefree aspect of biking: the pure pleasure of being a kid again, enjoying spontaneous moments with friends, and embracing the adventure for its own sake. I’m truly proud of how it turned out. Huuuuge shout out to the incredible crew and talent who helped me bring this thing to life. I was so humbled by each of you willing to give me your time and trusting a crazy ole bat like me. Okay hope you enjoy it bye!!
